MINDFUL COMMUNICATION FOR ASIAN INTEGRATION

The Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University with financial support from the International Programme for the Development of Communications (IPDC) of UNESCO launched a project in October 2015 to develop a “Mindful Journalism” training curriculum that will draw from Asia’s age-old philosophical wisdom. Developing mindfulness has been a fundamental aspect of Buddhist teachings for over 25 centuries and it is been adopted widely in a secular setting in the West today from health sector to the mass communications arena. This project will develop a number of curricula that draws upon Asian philosophical concepts and ideas and integrate these with the existing western-centric communication theory and concepts to introduce a more universal model of journalism training in Asia for the 21st century.
